Statement of faith

 

THE TRINITY

We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect & eternally existing in three equally divine persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

 

GOD

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, & love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears & answers prayer.

 

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, born of a virgin. Jesus lived a sinless life, proclaimed that he was the Christ, came to fulfill the law, performed miracles, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the grave, & ascended to Heaven, where he now represents us before the Father & from where He will one day visibly return to Earth.

Holy Spirit

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of their sin, give new life to, sanctify, empower, indwell, instruct, comfort, guide, & empower the believer for Godly living, evangelism, & acts of service. His present work includes the distribution & operation of spiritual gifts to fortify the body of Christ.

 

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, without error in the original writings, written under the inspiration of God’s Spirit, & is the final authority for all Christians.

 

SALVATION

We believe that each person is created by God, in His own image, & that each person sins & thereby incurs physical, spiritual, & eternal death, which is separation from God by choice. Those who repent & turn from sin to follow Jesus Christ as Savior are “born again” spiritually into everlasting joy, delivered from condemnation, & receive new & eternal life; whereas those who choose not to believe are destined for eternal punishment.

Gender, marriage, and human life

We believe that God creates each person as male or female, & that these two distinct, complementary genders reflect the image & nature of God (Genesis 1:27). We believe that marriage is a holy sacrament given by God & is a covenant between one man & one woman. We believe that all human life is sacred & created by God in his image, & we are called to protect & value all human life from conception to death.

SACRAMENTs

We believe the local church is enjoined to practice the ordinances of baptism by immersion, which signifies the repentance and forgiveness of sins & receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), & the Lord’s Supper. The latter marks an occasion for reflection on Christ’s life & loving sacrifice, which we practice weekly to emphasize the importance of Jesus’s sacrifice.

God's purpose of grace

We believe in God's saving grace that calls all people to faith, repentance of all sin, confession, baptism, & a new life of holiness & ministry through the Holy Spirit for the glory of God, according to the truths of scripture.
